Solana Nuts is a family farm in Spain. We grow three varieties: Solana almonds, Lauranne almonds and Chandler walnuts. Everything on this website was grown on our land.
When our grandfather planted his first almond trees in 1987, Spain was not yet seen as a premium almond producer. California dominated. But Spanish almonds have something Californian almonds don't: a hard, non-porous shell that means no post-harvest fumigation, a higher oil content that translates to richer flavour, and single-origin traceability that fine-food buyers across Europe now actively demand.
Over the years, as European buyers discovered what made Spanish almonds different, demand for our varieties grew. We added Lauranne โ a French-Spanish cross that is large, sweet, and holds its skin perfectly when baked, making it a favourite with patissiers and chocolatiers. Then Chandler walnuts, whose extra-light kernel colour and mild buttery flavour set the standard for premium retail across Germany, France and the UK.
Today we ship direct to deli owners, importers, bakeries, chocolatiers and health food retailers across more than 30 European countries. We still do it the same way our grandfather did: with attention to the soil, respect for the seasons, and a genuine pride in what we produce.
